Accessibility Update release

Episodes 7 to 12 have been written, but progress on the editing and programming has been slow. Meanwhile, we will present an Accessibility Update to cap off the year 2024.

Large subtitle options — While conducting user testing (which just consisted of me showing the game to people at a bar on my smartphone) I realized that, while most of the menu's text was about the right size to be read on a phone held at arm's length or a bit farther, the closed captions were too small.

In response, large subtitles are now selectable in the options menu, where you used to only be able to hide it! Currently, the text size is 1.5× the default size.

Long or deactivated timers — Sometimes during user testing, people missed the instructions and I had to explain the rules by talking to them. While it may be best remedied by better writing that presents only pertinent info when it's needed (and also more attentive players), it’s also true that people may be playing with a control scheme that feels alien to them.

In response, timers can be extended to 30 seconds in all question types, or turned off altogether! The problem with it is, I only composed 15 seconds of think music, so you'll have to endure 15 seconds of silence if people decide to sit out a question with "long timers" activated.

I anticipate this option to also be useful to people playing the game using the hai!touch Gate webapp using a screenreader. One point of regret about the design of the game is that I did not record the options for each round of Like It or Leave It, so the information on what the 4th option says is only accessible visually.

Long typing timers — The above timer options do not apply to Thousand-Question Questions and All Outta Salts, which still always last 1 minute. However, user testing indicated that the default typing timers may be inaccessible to much of the public, including those playing on hai!touch Gate. Now, typing timers may be doubled or extended to 5 minutes, which ought to be enough for everyone, unless they're phoning in through a telegram line and keying the answer in Morse Code.

There are also some non-accessibility-related updates:
